In a bowl, combine the sugar, salt, black pepper, paprika, turmeric and garlic powder.
Slice the sirloin steaks into 3cm cubes, drizzle with olive oil and generously rub with the sugar spice mixture.
Prepare the kebabs by threading the beef cubes onto skewers alternating with asparagus spears and red onion wedges.
Grill the skewers on a hot fire or griddle pan turning to cook on all sides to your preferred doneness; it will take approximately 4 minutes for medium-rare which is recommended.
Sprinkle fresh chopped parsley over the skewers before serving.
