Team Karan Beef/ Heneways compete at The Fast One

  • Karan Beef

Team Karan Beef/ Heneways men's and woman's cycling teams took part in The Fast One at Midvaal Raceway, Meyerton on Sunday 31 January.

With this being the curtain raiser to the 2016 racing season and just two weeks before the South African national championships, the sub vet VA class racing was aggressive from the start gun with non-stop attacks. The team managed to cover all attacks although none stuck until the 40km mark when a seven-man group broke away. This included our strong-man Waldek Wasowicz.

Thereafter, Team Karan Beef/ Heneways controlled the pace in the main peloton while the breakaway kept their lead of around a minute. With 2km to go, Waldek launched a final attack from the break and soloed to an impressive victory.

In the woman's race, Nicolene Naude rode a strong race to finishing in the lead group just 2 seconds off the race winner and placing 9th overall.
