    Electrician

    Karan Beef Farming (Pty) Ltd has the following vacancy at our feedlot in Heidelberg.

    The above position will become vacant at our Feedlot in Heidelberg. To be successful as an electrician, you should be detail - orientated and demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills. The candidate shall have the following responsibilities, necessary skills and qualifications:

    Qualifications:
      • Matric certificate (Grade 12)
      • Successfully completed your trade test (Red Seal)
      • Must be registered with the department of labour as an Installation Electrician (IE) and be authorised to inspect, test and issue Certificates of Compliance (CoCs) for three-phase electrical installations - Compulsory
      • Medically fit to perform the required duties, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
      • Must reside in or around Heidelberg and must be willing to travel from time to time.
    Skills and Abilities:
      • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as an electrician in an industrial or agricultural environment
      • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing (English & Afrikaans)
      • Comfortable working with ERP systems and proficient in MS office suite
      • Have sound knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic circuits and components
      • Must be able to work in groups and individually without supervision

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
      • Perform maintenance according to a maintenance schedule
      • Inspect, test and issue CoCs for three-phase electrical installations when required

      • Keep accurate records of all maintenance work
      • Conduct daily and monthly feedlots/holding station inspections and repairs
      • Minor and major repairs on electrical systems and attend to breakdowns to ensure minimum downtime

      • Able to work shifts to operational requirements, weekend work for planned maintenance and be available for standby, overtime and callouts

    Electrical Handyman - Electrical Engineering Department

    KARAN BEEF has the following vacancy available at our abattoir in Balfour.

    The successful candidate must be a motivated individual and meet the requirements listed below:

    Requirements:
    • Grade 12.
    • Minimum three years’ experience as an electrical handyman or in a similar electrical maintenance position.
    • Practical experience with lights, light fittings, switches, plugs, socket outlets and small electrical appliances.
    • Basic electrical fault-finding skills and the ability to use hand tools, power tools and basic electrical test equipment.
    • Experience in an abattoir, food-processing plant or other industrial environment will be advantageous.
    • Ability to work at heights and in wet, cold and wash-down areas, including shifts and breakdowns when required.

    Holding Station Manager

    We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Holding Station Manager to join our team at our holding station based in Deneysville. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all Holding Station operations, including the receiving, handling, welfare, movement, inspection, and preparation of cattle. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient flow of livestock while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare, biosecurity, operational efficiency, and compliance with company policies and legislation.     Qualifications

    Feedlot Veterinarian

    The Feedlot Veterinarian is responsible for the comprehensive management of animal health, welfare, and performance within intensive beef production systems. This role integrates preventative, diagnostic, and therapeutic veterinary practices while ensuring compliance with regulatory, food safety, and animal welfare standards. A critical component of this role is the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of biosecurity systems across all feedlot and satellite operations.

    Requirements:
      • Registered Veterinarian with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC).
      • Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in intensive animal production systems (feedlot experience preferred).
      • Willingness to travel regularly to satellite operations in South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia, and liaise with export abattoirs.
      • Strong computer literacy, particularly in Excel, data management, and statistical analysis.
