…In Waterkloof, Pretoria named Best Family Steakhouse.The 2005 awards mark the eighth annual event, during which 70 restaurants countrywide were judged by food critics. The short list was compiled from public nominations of favourite steakhouses on the SABC2 Saturday morning show - Weekend Live and Leisure. More than 16 000 entries were received over an eight week period.
Judging was co-ordinated by publisher and food media personality, Lannice Snyman, who ensured that judges visited short-listed steakhouses anonymously, paid their bills in full, and filled out a strict mark sheet.
The Steakhouse of the Year Awards place the spotlight on quality, and serve to inform diners where to get the very best for their money in terms of excellence of steaks and side-dishes, as well as service and ambience.
