| SANHA was formed as a nationally represented, non-profit making Halaal food authority in 1996. SANHA has the widest possible support base from both consumers and the industry. SANHA’s founding membership comprises of all role-players in the Halaal meat industry as welll as representation from the major Thrological bodies in Souh Africa. The National Independant Halaal Trust (NIHT) formerly the IHT was formed and constituted in 1992. Since October 2000, the growth of the NIHT has been phenominal. The NIHT aspires to the highest Halaal standards as prescribed by Sharia (Islamic law), these standards have been set up by Mufti’s and various Ulema from across the Islamic ideological spectrum. Presently the NIHT has offices in Johannesburg, Laudium (Pretoria), Durban and has logistical bases in the Eastern Cape, Western Cape and Northern Cape.
